NRLT Easements – June Pichel Cook

June Pichel Cook Property

On December 19, 2018, June Pichel Cook donated a conservation easement in perpetuity on 95 acres in Craftsbury Common to the Northern Rivers Land Trust. The Cook conservation easement is the NRLT first in Craftsbury. The parcel also affords broad views of the hills west of Route 14.

The Cook parcel, fronting on Route 14 and North Craftsbury Road (see map below), and bisected by a half mile of the Black River, is roughly 60% productive forest. It provides connectivity for wildlife along the Black River. Expressing the NRLT’s gratitude to Cook, the organization’s chair, Susan Houston, cited its hope that more landowners will join in extending the natural corridor.

The easement agreement allows only one residence, on either the northwest or southeast corner of the property.
